pistoy's first stuff

i received a package from one of my mudra friends who's based in Taiwan. (shoutout, thanks Arvs! hehe!) i excitedly ripped the package open and found a nice little charms thingy, a couple of really cute tops (which i already wore this weekend, 1 when we went to orlando, and another for church... really cutesy and uber comfy!), and colorful pairs of cute little Mickey socks! awwwww. =)

the socks are officially pistoy's first stuff! we haven't bought a single thing for him. not even a pacifier, nor a blanket, nor anything remotely related to babies. =P we got stuff "lined up" for buying at our amazon cart, but we're still looking around and comparing stuff.

nakakatuwa looking at the cute little socks. we're gonna have little shoes, little tshirts, little pants, little shorts, little everything! bigla tuloy akong na-excite mag-shopping ng damit ni pistoy. pati mga little plates, little plastic spoons and forks, little stuff na parang naglulutu-lutuan lang. hehehe!

anyways, i will be taking pics of pistoy's first stuff. thank you again mareng Arvs! *hugs*

football baby

since this is the first football weekend, i thought i'd blog about an incident involving Pistoy's taste in sports and-or his preference for his name. =P

a few weeks ago, we were watching tv while thinking of a good name for Pistoy. for some reason we ended up dropping names of famous football athletes. we announced their names one by one. peyton. manning. drew. breese. troy. polamalu. *kick!*

it was one of pistoy's full force kicks. so i had hubby je put his hand on my tummy. say the name again... polamalu! *kick!*

we were going crazy around this time! aba, aba, aba, marunong pumili si pistoy ng name ah. polamalu is one of the best defensive players in the league. after a few more seconds... "polamalu" *kick!*

*lol* he wants to be called "polamalu"? of course that could work to my advantage, because my boss is a real die-hard fan of the team which polamalu plays for. hehehe! and it's got a nice ring too.. "Pistoy Polamalu".

but no baby... i don't think we're naming you after him. i will support you if you like football though. =P btw, this is what Troy Polamalu looks like:

right now, pistoy is quietly listening to the game on tv. polamalu got an interception that forced an overtime, which gave his team a chance to score and win the game. if pistoy will have an inclination to football, i guess hubby je will have an easy time taking care of him on sundays and monday nights. =P

faux MAs

been planning on blogging about this little blunder that hubby je committed a few weeks ago.

in search of a good pair of maternity jeans, punta kami sa mall. we went to this Motherhood store, at ayun, sukat-sukat ako, tingin-tingin ng sale.

nung magbabayad na, the chubby cashier was very chatty. here's how the conversation went (more or less):

chubby chatty cashier: Congratulations! when are you due?
preggy me: mid-december.
chubby chatty cashier: oh, that's great! a Sagittarius! i'm a Capricorn!
tactless je: Congratulations!

*total silence for a few seconds*

at this point, medyo na-gets ko na where the problem is sa conversation.

but hubby je... noooo. we made it all the way to the parking lot before nya narealize na hindi buntis yung cashier, and she was actually refering to her own birth sign.

i guess i have to take care of this pair of jeans. i don't think babalik kami sa store na yon. =P

yehey!

we had our monthly check-up this morning, and lumabas na rin yung results ng biopsy...

friends, salamat sa mga prayers nyo... the lump is benign. it's a lactoadenomachuvachuva. basta hindi sya cancerous. Thank God! nakahinga na ko ng maluwag!

another good news is lahat ng nararamdaman ko sa pregnancy ko ay normal naman daw. now i have names for them: the pinching pain sa lower back at wetpu ko lalo na pag naglalakad is called "sciatica", yung pains sa belly na parang hilab ng magkaka-diarrhea is called "braxton hicks contraction", at ang sakit sa bulsa dahil sa dami ng tests is called "sure-turn-us-into-cash-cows-just-make-sure-our-baby-is-healthy syndrome". =)

my blood pressure seemed to have normalized as well. good thing my low-sodium-when-i-can-help-it diet is working. i need to keep active pa rin, para hindi lang sa diet makuha yung pagbaba ng blood pressure ko.

on the flip side, my doctor told me to watch what i eat, dahil i am gaining weight twice as fast as i should be. in the last 4 weeks, i gained 10 lbs. normal weight gain at this stage of a pregnancy is just 4 lbs!!!! pistoy! wag kang masyadong matakaw! *lol*

i should really watch what i eat na, dahil i still have (ideally) 14 more weeks to go. right now, i've already gained 24 lbs, and if i am to gain 1 lb a week, that's a total of 38 lbs. ideal weight gain is just 25-35 lbs. ang hirap ng math when it involves weight.

my diet plan includes:
- limiting chocolate intake to an equivalent of 1 serving per week.
- drinking water instead of fruit juices. orange juice might be an exception. i think among the fruit juices i drink, it's got the lowest sugar content, and no sodium too.
- eating dinner earlier. no more 9 or 10 pm dinners. if i get hungry between dinner and bed time, there's the glass of milk or a yogurt.
- go back to eating for 1, and stopping when i'm full. =P
- more fruits and veggies, less rice and bread. pasta, i am still battling my wills about it. hehe!
- be more vigilant sa pagtingin ng labels. i've started doing this nung nag-elevate yung blood pressure ko. i think it's a good thing, so i might continue to do this even after pregnancy.
- indulge once in a while. =D

well, i was thinking of starting the new diet plan today. but i decided i'll start tomorrow. what made me decide? bday ng officemate ko and we got her a chocolate bday cake. there. =)

play time

last night, je and i had a great time "playing" with pistoy. he was moving around so much, that you can actually see my tummy move din. we were wondering what he could be doing at ang lakas ng movement. one time, my tummy seemed to ripple. siguro nagsa-somersault sya sa loob. then merong malalakas na sipa, at mahihina (which, we think, is his punching motion, hehe!).

nakikipaglaro na sa tatay nya. je would talk to my belly and pistoy would respond with a kick. nakakatuwa! =)

eventually, napagod din ata, dahil tumigil na.

then nung matutulog na ko, nagsimula na naman! nagigising ako minsan kasi ang lakas nya sumipa! *lol* when i'm lying down, fave spot nyang sipain yung part ng tyan ko na nakadikit sa kama. i wonder if he knows when he's already right side up?

btw, pag umiinom ako ng orange or apple juice, after a few minutes nagiging maligalig sya. anong meron sa juice?

crib hunt
the past few days, nagwiwindow shopping ako online for cribs. i initially thought espresso or dark colored cribs look elegant, but then again, it's gonna be pistoy's crib, not mine. it needs to look baby-ish. hehe! so naghahanap ako ng cream or white colored cribs na.

rocker/glider hunt

also, nag-compare na rin ako ng rocker/glider chairs. hubby je's insisting we get one. nung una parang ayoko pa kasi may lazyboy naman kami. but when i tried one sa babies 'r us, wow, yeah, sige let's go get one! *lol*

boob job

been homebound for a couple of days now.

yesterday, i had my breast biopsy procedure, and i was advised to stay at home and rest the remainder of the day. today, i just decided i'd stay home so i can ice the surgery area without any hassles. the pain is gone. yesterday, it was painful, but i decided to tough it out. i'm proud to say na i haven't taken any medicines since we found out i'm expecting. =)

the actual procedure lasted for a little over half an hour siguro. i only had local anesthesia, and i think they gave me the minimum dosage. i felt the needle prick me. i felt the gadget pulsating on my boob. all in all, it wasn't that bad. i was even watching the needle pierce through layers of skin and fat and tissue from the ultrasound machine. it was weird. =P

the doctor said they had enough tissue to do the test, but he (yes, lalaki! hubby je couldn't accept the fact na hindi lang sya ang exclusive na nakakita sa boobs ko *lol*) insisted on taking out as much of the lump as possible. then they put a marker, which is a titanium coil thingy, where they took out the tissues.

when i got home, i iced the surgery area continuously for 3 hours. masama pala yon. dapat pala by intervals. hehe! eh it eased the pain eh. nakatulog pa nga ako nung afternoon for a couple of hours eh.

the results will be out in a week. the waiting game begins again. *sigh*

i was amused though, that all throughout the procedure, pistoy was kicking as if reminding me that i am not alone and that he is ok. he would knock every few minutes. good boy, keeping mommy company. =)

Pistoy updates

halfway mark
i missed the halfway mark... i was supposed to post something for pistoy's 20th week, but i was so swamped with work, with exercising (yeah, right *rolls eyes*) and with reading Harry Potter books. hehe! wow, i don't sound like a mom at all. i should push all those things aside pag dumating na si pistoy. hehe!

we celebrated pistoy's 20th week by eating out the next day. well, it was just an excuse for me not to cook, really.

boy or girl?
then august 11 came and our phones (mr.co-creator's and mine) were pretty busy. family and friends texting and calling when we're going to open The Envelope.

you see, when we had the 2nd level ultrasound at around 18 weeks, they were able to determine pistoy's gender na. but we wanted it to be special pag nalaman na namin, so we asked the technician to write it on a piece of paper, and seal it in an envelope. we agreed that we will open it on august 11, our 5th weding anniv.

mind you, it wasn't easy! the first 3 days, i am aching to rip that envelope open and find out if pistoy is a boy or a girl... or as mr. co-creator puts it... if it's pistoy or pistirl. hehe! je had to hide the envelope from me. and i think he did the right thing. once the envelope was out of sight, it was a little easier. then days passed and the envelope was pushed out of my mind.

pakitang-gilas
another thing that kept my mind off the envelope, is pistoy's kicks. i knew it was pistoy kicking me when i felt those flutters. they feel like gas bubbles, but on the lower part of the abdomen. gas can't reach that part, that's my thought. but then they say when it's the baby, i'll know for sure. one time, nakahawak si je sa tummy ko, and we told pistoy something like "pistoy sipain mo si daddy, magpakitang gilas ka!" at ayun, ang galing ng timing, sumipa nga! the first time je felt pistoy move, nakakatuwa! hindi maipinta sa tuwa ang mukha ni je, hehe! lately, lumalakas na ang mga sipa nya. maligalig sya pag gutom ako. at pag sobrang busog. siguro nasisikipan kasi naka-expand ang stomach ko. hehehe!

doppler thingy
we had a new toy as well. je bought a doppler thingy online and we've been using it para pakinggan ang heartbeat ni pistoy. ang hirap pala! nung first try namin, it took us around 15 minutes ata trying to locate the heartbeat. pero after a few more tries, narealize namin na may favorite spot sya... sa right side ko. kaya ngayon, we try that first, at pag wala, baka naglalakwatsa na naman sya. hehe! hindi naman namin ginagamit yung doppler to reassure us na ok lang si pistoy, pero more on recreation lang namin ni je. nakakatuwa kasi pag naririnig mong may ibang heart na tumitibok sa loob ng katawan mo eh. =)

here's a sample of pistoy's heartbeat... first recording ng baby namin, at mukhang ma-shubez itong anak ko dahil nagpakitang gilas at ang lakas ng heartbeat nya nung nirerecord na namin:

anyway, going back to pistoy's gender.... itchaboi!!!!
