we went to the doctor this afternoon, and we saw pistoy again sa ultrasound! ang laki-laki na nya. based on the measurements, he is estimated at 8 lbs 11 ounces! well, that's actually give or take a lb. but still, at exactly 38 weeks, his measurements are for a 39-week-3-day baby. he is 10 days ahead!
so now we are faced with a decision to make... to go and try for a normal vaginal delivery, or opt for a scheduled c-section?
if we are to try the vaginal delivery, we wait for my contractions, because they only induce when at 40 weeks or later.
if we are to opt for a scheduled c-section, i will be under the knife on Dec.10, when pistoy is at 39 weeks and 1 day.
we were given until tomorrow to decide, but decisions like this shouldn't be taken lightly. so i will ask for more time, as much time as possible and as allowed, from the docs.
we're trying to weigh the pros and cons, and the risks related to either procedure. i mean, i don't want to be in labor for hours, and then in the end hihiwain din pala ako. if there really is no way pistoy is gonna make it safe through vaginal delivery, then in a heartbeat i will say c-section. screw my recovery time, it will be hard and will take longer, but i won't feel less of a woman if i don't push. some people think it's one of the factors to consider, but not for me. whatever is safe for pistoy and me, we go for that.
2 of the 3 docs already talked to us about considering c-section because of his size. pwede naming isapalaran na baka pistoy's weight was over-estimated, but i dunno kung anong mangyayari kung under-estimated pa pala sya ng lagay na to.
i can't sleep. it's close to midnight. we have to decide soon. right now, i am leaning towards a c-section, just to make sure pistoy will be safe.even doc rommel said c-section is safer for mom and baby.
and, my doctor ordering another blood work and another 24-hour urine test to check for protein isn't helping me calm my fears that i might be a candidate for preeclampsia. tumataas na naman daw ang blood pressure ko. given the fact na i don't trust the nurse who took my blood pressure this time, still, wouldn't it be better to err on the side of caution, even for just this one time?
friends, please pray for me, for mr.co-creator, and pistoy.
sana we make the right decision.
and sana walang complications.

From my experience, my OB measured my dear sophia at 7.5lbs or close to 8 lbs during my 38 weeks chkup. Thurs to, then Sat naglabor na ako for about 18 hrs then CS n tlga bcoz of fearing na mapulupot ung umbilical cord nya s leeg or madistress. She weighed 6.79lbs.
ReplyDeleteMy point is, hit or miss lagi ung measurements nila and CS is not what I intended to do pero that time, that's the best alternative.
I have 2 cousins na 9 pounder ang anak pero normal delivery. I think you can, too kahit pa 8lbs si pistoy pero tingin ko worry ng doc is your blood pressure kaya ung CS option is on the table.
Basta whatever is best for you and the baby. Goodluck! I'll pray for you and baby pistoy! muwahhhh, kaya mo yan! =)
praying for your safe delivery bengers *hugs*
ReplyDeletepag nadecide mong cs, sa december 12 para ang birthday 12/12/10 hehe!
ReplyDeleteingats. kung ako, cs na lng para walang labor pains hehe.
*lol* @ gewi! naisip ko nga rin yan eh, pag elective CS, we get to choose his bday! haha!
ReplyDelete@liza, bale elective CS ka mare? or nag-normal ka pa then naging emergency CS?
we were able to bargain for monday para mag-decide. nakausap din namin yung doc na more trusted namin (they're a group practice kasi of 3 docs). my cervix is fully closed pa daw, and hindi pa numinipis. so that may mean baka mag-overdue pa si pistoy. which means, he will gain more weight pa. *sigh* gotta wait 2 more weeks before ako maging candidate for inducing. how much will pistoy gain in 2 weeks?!
btw, nabasa namin ni je na emergency CS (pag nag-try mag-normal, pero di nagtuluy-tuloy) is riskier than a scheduled CS. how true is that? andami ko kasing nakausap na nag-normal muna, tapos na-emergency CS, but they're fine.
yah, me too! pero mas riskier siguro kasi nastestress yung baby ng matagal. pati ang mommy... tagal tagal mong maglabor tapos cs rin pala hehe.
ReplyDeletedont worry about being less womanly noh.. as if having a kid inside of you for 9 friggin months isn't womanly enough!
kaya nyo ni pistoy yan!!! kausapin mo sya.. kung gusto mo mapaaga ang labor, try mo mag exercise using the gym ball. that worked for me :P kaya ako dinugo eh.. hehe.. but still CS pa din.. :P
thanks for the insight anshe! thanks fwends, it is reassuring to get support from you guys. *group hug!*
ReplyDeleteoxytocin! haha
ReplyDelete*hug* yah, either way.. kid still pops out haha.
Harbs, sa case ko normal dapat then naging C-section (Literally, in 5 minutes she's out, ganun kabilis). Nde sya emergency pero 18 hrs na ko naglelabor. Later on sinabi nila s kin my hemoglobin dropped and may fever ako nung nalelabor.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, with my experience mas nastress ako habang minomonitor ko nung heartbeat ni baby sophia. Lalo na pag bumababa. khit binigyan ako ng pamparelax kc nga ilang CM pa lang ako, nde ako makatulog.
Kung alam ko lng na ganun kabilis ko makikita at maho-hold si baby sophia, I could have elected CS kung ni-offer s kin to. No sweat ang epidural, no sweat ang surgery and recovery...
nde mo maiisip ang pain when you know a tiny person is depending on you and you alone ;-)
