last tuesday, May 18, we went to the doc's office again. time for blood work chuva.
lots of paperwork (again!) and decisions need to be made for the screenings and tests. sobrang dami nya, at sobrang nakakapraning. bakit ganon, dito lang ba sa US maraming tests? parang ngayon ko lang narinig yung mga yon ah. =P first trimester screening, QUAD screening, HIV test, CF tests, i'm pretty sure meron pa for later. andaming babasahin! =P
nurse Nina was very patient sa pag-explain kung bakit some people opt to do the screening sa first trimester. dito daw kasi malalaman kung may Down's Syndrome ang bata. some people want options. pag may problema ang baby, they have a way out. aka, abortion. but of course the nurse didn't say the A word. as for us naman, it's not an option, kaya we declined the first trimester test. it's time sensitive kasi they can't test for that after 12 weeks. siguro para rin kung they will have the abortion, maliit pa yung baby? how sad.
we did, however, sign up for the QUAD test. it will be done around 16-19 weeks ata. it's like the first trimester screening, but with more. hehe! of course, i can't remember right now kung ano yung "more". hehehe! parang kasama ata yung sa spina bifida. we decided to go for it, kasi we thought we want to know pa rin. if there's something wrong (sana Lord wala!), we can prepare for it emotionally, mentally and financially.
the HIV test, we signed up for it din. although there's 0 chance na carrier kami. i think may discount yon sa insurance. hahaha! =P
the meeting with the doc was nice. we met the first of the 3 female docs na titingin sa akin throughout the course of the pregnancy. i like doc1, madali syang kausap and very friendly. =) andami naming tinanong, and she patiently answered each one of them as if she's explaining it for the first time in her entire career. hehe!
the consultation was pretty uneventful. i mean, considering the fact na buntis ang kukunan ng specimen for the tests. hehe!
wiwi sa cup, blood pressure, breast exam, pap smear (well, this one is an odd routine, but i gotta do what i gotta do), 6 tubes of blood. 6 tubes! ano bang itetest nyo sa akin? or idodonate nyo ba yan?! hehe!
by the time matapos kami, uhaw na ko and gutom. we were scheduled for our next appointment sa June 15. until then, di muna namin makikita si baby ignacio. awww.
and then! after the doc visit, diretso kami sa Wendy's, i gotta have my chocolate frosty! *grins*
