last week, i went out for lunch with 2 of my officemates who are also preggos. Preggo#1 used to be in our team and i worked with her for a year (she also happens to be one of my fave folks at work!). Preggo#2 is just an acquaintance. we're all from the IT department.
since Preggo#1 didn't bring her car that day (she was dropped off by her hubby), and Preggo#2 got stuff at the back seat (they are moving to a new house kasi), we were left with no choice but to use my 2-door, lowered, bucket-seated car.
it was hilarious watching us get in and out of the car! it's like watching the circus. like that "how many clowns can fit in the car" type of thingy. =P
people were extra nice to us that day, seating us on the nicest booth, being extra prompt. and i dunno if it was just my imagination, but bigger portions too.
i was kinda guilty when Preggo#1 had a salad, and Preggo#2 had a veggie burger, while i had a humongous plate of cheese ravioli pasta with grilled chicken on top. may i justify my choice dish by saying that it's got sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, mushroom and i didn't ask for extra cheese on the cheese sauce? hehehe!
then we all indulged in a chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. *grins*
it's nice to have people you know who are going through the same stuff as you are. i have friends who are also preggo, and having preggo officemates is a huge bonus. we get to talk about our company's maternity leave and short term disability leave policies, who to approach, who not to approach (hehe!) regarding those matters. they gave tips on how to update our elective insurance for next year (we're all giving birth this year), the paper works, including filing for SSN, our annual MBOs (which drives the rate of our salary raise and bonus), and the general work concerns. we all agreed that we should take the most time off of work... which is 12 weeks.
we have the same concerns, like who will take care of the baby when we go back to work. Preggo#1's mom will be here for a couple of months only. Preggo#2's mom lives near their new place, but is still working. my parents will be here for around 5 months, and after that, baka si bro naman ang pupunta. considering our situations, i think i will have it the easiest. we all have the same idea of getting to work by 7am so we could leave by 3pm. kailangan ko na atang mag-practice.
we exchanged personal contact details, and promised to be available for each other even at 2am in the morning. =P thank God for preggo officemate-friends! =)
